We collected books as we collected years.
They shaped character, formed memories.
And helped us discover personalities.
Books can do that. They reveal much about a person.
When Jenna avoided Curious George and Peter Rabbit, we knew she was uncomfortable with conflict and characters who disobeyed. She still wants everybody to get along and do right.
Morgan loved books on animals. Her collection of horse books and dog books quickly outgrew her shelves. Any wonder that even as a college student living in a trailer she’s already owned a horse and two dogs? Pop-up books were among our favorites to read.
Books that moved. That allowed participation. That invited surprising wonders.
I like to think that’s how we still live.
Moving and growing.
Participating and doing.
Surprised anew by God’s wonders.

Mmmm . . . your question makes me think. What do my books reveal about me?
Wow, this was interesting... Really!!
Loved the books you choose!!
What a novel (no pun intended) way to look at books! I certainly took note of my children's favorites, but I never really analysed why! (Our daughter's fav was Alice in Wonderland. Hmmmm....)
But it's true... our favorites do reveal a lot about us!
Thanks for joining us for Marriage Monday today, Lisa.

I have a library downstairs of books we have collected over the years. Reading was one of our favorite things to do with our kids. Love your pictures!
My books reveal my interests:History, Biographies, Outdoors, Western and Native American Culture and Influence..never really thought about that before.
I remember when our son Charlie was little he loved those Mercer Mayer books. When I read them to him, I would insert him as the little critter character and make the story about him. He loved that!

I think reading to our kids is such a bonding experience. I don't know if my kids are as big of readers as I am, probably not but then they are at different places in their lives right now (College or raising a young family, working and so on). These days find me reading to the grandkids and so the cycle continues!

The last two days I've been unpacking book shelves and wondering what that eclectic mix says about me. Your post has spurred that thought more. I definitely see my children's personalities borne out in their favourite books. Great post!
This is a lovely post - I really enjoyed it. It brought back lots of memories of reading wonderful books both as a child and later with my child!
