What’s your goal?

edmundNor indeed would the other boys at Edmund’s school have recognized him if they could have seen him at that moment.

For Aslan had breathed on him at their meeting and a kind of greatness hung about him.
~ C. S. Lewis, Prince Caspian

The goals appear to be:

But no.

Those aren’t the goals.
They’re just means to reach the goal.

The goal is change.
Something I can’t do myself.
It will take a miracle.

  • To be renewed in the image of the Creator (Colossians 3:10)
  • To be conformed to the image of the Son (Romans 8:29)
  • To be transformed into the image of His glory (2 Corinthians 3:18)

I press on to the goal by reading, praying, meditating, memorizing...

...to be a woman who praises His name (Isaiah 43:21),
forever and ever (Psalm 145:2).

I just position myself for it.
But He must do the real work.
That’s the goal. By His design.

"Those aren’t the goals.
They’re just means to reach the goal." This is profound. Too often we get stuck on the means as goals, or neglect the means because they're not the goals.

They’re just means to reach the goal. I am with Barb on this one.....that is so true and I never thought of it that way Lisa!! Excellent "goals" though.......great things to aspire after!

"I just position myself for it." Well said, it does happen by the grace of God! But we need to position ourselves for it. My main means are scripture-prayer & prayer-scripture. ;) God bless you on your journey!

You're keeping the larger purpose in mind. The goals -- all good things -- are not the end, not the purpose. Good post, Lisa.

Your goals are set very high. I would need the Breath of GOD to breath on me to meet them all. My goal is to read the Bible through this year, and I am doing good. Even if some goals are not fully met, we must not berate and kick ourselves but simply set another goal perhaps a bit more reachable.
