“Wow” moments—Friday’s Fave Five

Friday's Fave Five at Living to Tell the Story Do you ever have those little moments when you just have to stop and say, “Wow, God!”?

Here are five small (but big!) ways that He’s amazed me since last Friday.

1. Breathing music
Since I’ve declared this “The Year of Deep Breathing” for me, God keeps sending “breathing” gifts to me through Brenda. (I guess He knows I wouldn’t buy them myself.) She brought this one to me while I was at my mother’s house last weekend:  breathing in CDI had an immediate “Wow” moment when I saw it. And I’ve been enjoying it ever since.

2. Another pen snobnew pen
Who knew? My next-door neighbor has been a pen snob for years! As Jeff and I were pulling out of our driveway early Sunday morning, Scarlette waved at us from her porch with something for me: a Pilot Precise V5 pen (and a notepad!).

She had read on my blog that I’ve turned into a pen snob, so she was adding to my collection. I felt so loved by her and by God for their attentiveness to detail in my life. And the pen is fabulous!

3. The accident that wasn’t
I was in such a rush to fly home, take a shower, and leave again. So I backed into what is usually the empty garage, parked, and stepped out—to discover that I was about 6 inches away from a total disaster. (This picture is not it—this one was taken the next day when I was back on my proper corner.) car and trailer

I had completely forgotten that we had the trailer temporarily parked in the garage. I just stood there and stared for a few minutes at how close I had come. And thanked God for my poor backing skills. If I had succeeded in my plan of parking dead center in the garage, my car would be in a repair shop right now.

4. The tweet
Karen and I had been tweeting about the upcoming Casting Crowns concert. She was going; I didn’t think I had time to go. But late Wednesday night, I got this tweet from her: tweet

It took me from a very blue moment to an instant “Wow, God!” moment. I knew I would make the time to go since the opportunity was falling in my lap.

5. The concert
So last night I got to totally enjoy myself with Jenna at the Caleb/Kutless/Casting Crowns concert. We needed a fun time together because we’ve been working side-by-side the past few months doing some really hard things. There were SO many songs that hit me right where I was, and I knew that God had really gone all out to get me there to hear the message. [Photo by Jenna]Casting Crowns concert

And as a bonus, not only did Karen give me free tickets, but I found out that she had been praying for me during the concert, too! Wow, God!

Wow that is SO great that you got to go to the CC concert!! God just knew you must have needed that.
Oh and I hear you about the accident that wasn't, I have almost done something similar before!! :) One time I backed into the garage door when it was still down! Ugh! Pen snob....that is funny! What a sweet neighbor.

THAT'S AWESOME! =D Casting Crowns either came by here recently or is on its way. I've never been to one of their concerts but I've just started listening to their music in a more dedicated way and I really like them.

And the pen snob thing! =D I SO GET THAT!

Here's to good pens, fun weekends, and missed accidents!

"Wow, God" is right. I don't think I've ever been a part of anyone's "Wow God" moments before, so I am just touched and thankful God made it all happen for us last night.

Last night was definitely a "Wow". I wish I had a recording of the entire thing; too many things to remember; lyrics I'd never noticed before and reminders of God's faithfulness that seem to be drowned out sometimes in the day-to-day "stuff" that fills my moments.

At the risk of sounding like some weird scary blog stalker, I just want you to know that you are PRECIOUS...to Jesus, and to me everytime I click over here! :)

Its so fun when people gift us things that we would not normally buy for ourselves. I'm not a pen snob, I am happy to find one, any pen, when I need one :)

Elizabeth,
You sound very sweet to me, not like a stalker. :-) We all need to hear how precious we are to Jesus and to each other! Thanks.

I'm glad there wasn't an accident after all in your garage *breathe! What a thoughtful neighbor you have and how nice to be at a CC concert! It's not every day that I get to say "Wow, God!" I wish it was more often. Oh, I will be more observant of my blessings this week.

That's one of my favorite pens! Guess I'm a pen snob, too.

Great story about the concert and what a blessing. Sounds like you had a wow-filled week.

Happy weekend.

I am a pen snob as well. What is up with that? It's so nice to write on paper with a good pen.
My Dear Mother in Law has backed out of her garage with the door shut....TWICE! She would have felt for you but I'm glad that you managed to not have an accident.

What a wonderful collection of large and small "wow" moments. Sometimes the little ones seem the greatest indication of God's watch-care, that He would provide such small but meaningful things.

I have been so thankful, too, for God's intervention in close calls! I think in heaven we'll find out there were many more we never knew about!

That's a lot to be happy for, a free concert, a nice pen, thoughtful friends and neighbors and an accident that did not happen! Life does not get any better than this, does it!

Sounds like you have some wonderful friends! 3 gifts in one list! You are blessed.

So glad you were able to go to the concert and that you felt the presence of God/heard His voice through the music.
