Who do you follow?

follow-Jesus-in-El-Salvador

Jesus said, “Follow me.”

Not a book. Not a doctrine. Not a religion.
Him.

Yes, obey his words. He said that, too.

But what do the words tell us? To follow him. He is The Word.

Don’t confuse the focus. What happens when we do?

  • We tie ourselves down to rules he didn’t make.
  • We give away our freedoms.
  • We bind each other unnecessarily.

We wrongly hurt the people already in the kingdom. We make it harder for new people to desire or be able to enter in. We roadblock the Spirit in paths he’s ready to work in us.

We sin. Because instead of aiming directly at loving God and loving others, we aim slightly off-target.

Does that mean we lose grace? No, because grace is not dependent upon us. But it does mean we distort the true message of the beauty of grace.

Grace is Jesus. Jesus. Jesus.

Follow Jesus. He’s the way.

Jesus spoke to them, saying,
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8:12

Driving into the unknown, is it easier for you to follow the car in front of you or follow a map?
[How should GPS fit into this analogy? #technoprobz]

To fathom grace; our undeserved favor, is to come to an understanding of the omnipotence of God and our utter dependance on Him. That understanding is what saves my life daily. And He lifts me up in strength when I begin to grasp my weakness...

Beautifully spoken, Floyd. Amen and amen.
My recent post Who do you follow?
Since He also said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments" and "If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him," the Bible and doctrine are very closely tied in with following Him the way He wants us to. There are people who try to follow Him in a nebulous way, off-kilter, opposed to His words, and that confuses them and anyone else trying to follow them following Him. But we do need to remember to see Him who is the Word through the Word.

Lisa, thank you for this beautifully written post....just two words and yet so profound because if we do "follow HIM" it takes in all of what we need to do and know. If we take those two words for what they mean it will change us regardless of where we are in our daily walk. Thank you for sharing!
