This is one of my favorite songs that contains a most moving line. Can you relate too?
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
Followed by one of the most redeeming lines of the gospel:
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
How Deep the Father’s Love
Written by Stuart Townend
How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

One of my favorite songs. Thanks for reminding me of it again -- going through it in my head now!
Thank you for posting this most beautiful song!
That song and those lyrics make my chest tighten with emotion. A true sense of love within me, proven by the sacrifice of the One who chose me and I didn't deserve it. Touched by His spirit. What a way to start the day. Thanks.
One of my favorite songs. thank you for sharing with us. Have a blessed weekend!!
"It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished"
to think of the pain Our Lord Had to suffer – and does suffer because of my sin – our sin. And not just the pain on the cross – we hurt him every time we operate against his design for us – I've hurt him too much. This made me stop, and think, and ponder, and be a little more determined not to hurt him so bad. Thank you Lisa. God bless and keep you!
One of my favorites!
