Be the innkeeper

What’s the rest of the story of the Good Samaritan?
What happened after the wounded traveler was dropped off at the inn (Luke 10:35)?

It was up to the innkeeper.

He was charged with nursing the wounded.
Being a caretaker is rarely easy or convenient or cheap.
It uses up your resources—emotions, time, money, energy,....

Do you have enough?
What’s the one resource you need the most to be an innkeeper?

Trust.

Trust in the one who promises to keep you supplied.
Faith that God will do what he promises.
And that he promises good.

Trust is what I need more of.

On Saturday I decided “yes” to a mission trip this summer to El Salvador.  Can I be an innkeeper there?
Do I have enough....stamina? Time? Compassion? Patience? Courage?

Enough trust?

No.
So I’m trusting God to provide me with even more...trust.

To be an innkeeper then. There.
And to be an innkeeper now. Here.

Who is God dropping off at your door of your inn?
Trust God to give you the resources you need to...

...Be the innkeeper.

What a "tugging at the heart" beautiful post, Lisa. I identify with your questions so easily, for hubby and I know who it is we are to be innkeepers for at this stage in our lives ~ our parents. It is a constant. But my heart is encouraged here today to ask the Lord who else there is knocking at my door and I see the obvious. I'm asking Him to show me those that aren't quite as obvious ~ to remove the scales from my spiritual eyes that I might "see" those who aren't as obvious.

Excited for you to see that you are signed up for a missions trip later in the year!

Enjoy your time with your BFF later this week!

Hugs

You know, I don't think I ever thought of that innkeeper. What a neat illustration. I am so glad we can trust Him for the resources to keep our particular inns.

Well, I guess I've been dropped off at somebody else's 'inn' to be the caretaker for a while. :) This is a very timely post and good reminder for me to trust God for the strength/resources/energy that is needed. He is always faithful to provide at just the right time!

All I can say is,WOW! I so needed this today. It put into visual and words what has been knawing at my soul this week, a confirmation of what I must do. I can't begin to tell you how much this post was from the Lord and just for ME! Today ---- I become an innkeeper!

We've got plane tickets booked to Uganda for our first term as missionaries... and our home is as big as an inn :) Gearing up for a summer of hosting teams- trusting He will give grace enough to welcome His children into our home!

Sounds exciting... and scary! You will most certainly grow in faith and trust this summer.

Tell, me is your husband going on the mission trip with you? Seems like this could be a wonderful time to grow in love and trust together as a married couple.

Blessings, e-Mom ღ

There is nothing like some ministry or anything that removes us from our comfort zones to encourage trust growth! Thanks for sharing!
