My soul GPS

What I’m memorizing:
Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.
Proverbs 4:26

If you think about where you want to end up,
you’re more likely to get there.garmin gps
I love my GPS. It’s spared me from lostness on more than one occasion. But only when I’ve plugged in my destination first.

Without telling it where I want to go, it wouldn’t be much help.

Sometimes my query is general: find me any fast food, or a nearby gas station, or a convenient hotel. Other times I give it the exact street address for Susannah’s house or Melody’s party.

God’s Word also answers my queries in general: feeds me manna when I don’t know exactly what to eat, builds me up with extra fuel for a grueling day, or points me toward the nearest oasis when I need to rest.

Other times I need a black and white answer on a right or wrong issue, and it gets me there, too.

Because I know my ultimate destination is in the arms of Jesus, I’m more likely to get there. He’s already spared me from lostness.

He promises me sure footing if I’ll think about where I’m going first.

His Word is the perfect GPS for my soul.

Hello! I came over here from the Simple Wife. I like your thoughts about general queries from God's word and also specific ones. I can relate to that: that sometimes I need general manna and sometimes more specific.

Oh, I noticed A Severe Mercy is on your book list. That is one of top favorite books!

Thanks! Kathleen at kathink.blogspot.com

Okay,I wanted to post a comment again. I was looking at some of your articles and landed on your post about your dad's last days, people stepping up to the plate, his last breaths, and the funeral. I just experienced these things with my sister's husband. I wanted you to know that your posts about it blessed me. Thanks for your honesty about that time.

Kathleen,
I am sorry about the loss of your b-i-l. :-( I'm sure that has not only rocked your sister's world, but your world as well. The ripple effects of death reach far and deep. May God bless your entire family with comfort from many sources and a variety of people. He doesn't remove our pain, but he is faithful to sit with us in it.

Lisa, Thank you for your kind comments...He doesn't remove our pain, but He is faithful to sit with us in it. I needed to hear that.

Thanks, too, for visiting my blog & commenting there as well.

Lisa,

I love the verses you're memorizing these days. Short, to the point--so straightforward and focused. And thanks for all you share each week about why you're memorizing what you are!
