“Deep in Love with You” – Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

Then Sings My Soul Saturday

We were part of the same crowd and became acquainted. Church classes, Steve and Cindy’s parties, watching the AL/AU football game. Later, we learned more of each other around fewer people, on ski trips in NC, small group devos at the Porters, three crammed in his truck cab to go to the movies.

And then, one day, left one on one, we knew.
BFF. We married. Jeff and me. Now we live together each day and share the same bed each night. Jeff and me.

I came to know God through a crowd, at first. Church, extended family, youth rallies. Later, I learned more of him among devoted believers in Barry’s feed store, on a retreat at Lake Guntersville, a girls’ class taught by Cathi.

And then, one night, just me and him, I knew.
Master; Savior; King. I covenanted myself to him. The Lord and me. Now we walk together each day and will share eternity with no night. The Lord and me.

“Deep in Love with You” is one of those songs I sing in the car, with no one else around, from a deep place in my heart. The lyrics are intimate, just me to my Lord.

May you experience Him the same way.

Deep in Love with You
LYRICS by by Michael W. Smith, Debbie Smith, Christa Black

Sitting at Your feet is where I want to be
I'm home when I am here with You
Ruined by Your grace, enamored by Your gaze
I can't resist the tenderness in You

CHORUS
I'm deep in love with You, Abba Father
I'm deep in love with You, Lord
My heart, it beats for You, precious Jesus
I'm deep in love with You Lord

Humbled and amazed that You would call my name
I never have to search again
There's a deep desire that's burning like a fire
To know You as my closest friend

CHORUS

Lord, my redeemer, Your blood runs through my veins
My love for You is deeper than it was yesterday
I enter through the curtain, parted by Your grace
Oh, You’re the lover of my soul

CHORUS

Lisa, I loved how you described how you met your husband but the relationship grew and how you spend your days with your BFF. The same with the Lord. You met Him in a crowd but came to the place where He was your personal Lord and Savior.

I love the music of Michael W. Smith but for some reason I don't think I've heard or sang this one before. I'm so glad you posted it as the words are so precious. My heart has had so many layers of protection surrounding it for so many years. And lately the Lord is peeling them away layer by layer. So, this was a perfect song for me.

Blessings and hugs to you,
Debbie

"I covenanted myself to him. The Lord and me. Now we walk together each day and will share eternity with no night. The Lord and me." How beautiful! I wish I had your cognitive complexity to go this deep in my spiritual life. Thanks, Lisa for this wonderful post.

And of course I like Michael W. Smith :)

Ohhh Lisa...such intimacy, such beauty, such a delight and way with words of walking us through your relationship with Our Lord to that of yours with your husband...such a deep love! I so enJOY Michael W. Smith and really appreciate the way you introduced this one!!! These words ring in my heart...a deep longing...

"I'm home when I am here with You
Ruined by Your grace, enamored by Your gaze
I can't resist the tenderness in You...

My heart, it beats for You, precious Jesus
I'm deep in love with You Lord"

So precious, thank you for bringing us into this sweet repose in His love for this weekend or anytime we choose to sit at His feet!!!

Beautiful, just beautiful...I relate to your story about your husband and coming to the same place with the Lord...deeply in love. There was a day many years ago, that the Lord gave me a picture of the dating process, escalating to the engagement, then the marriage...it changed my understanding of His love for me. Thanks for the beautiful video...sung beautifully...it's just beautiful all the way around!

God bless,
Mary
