The unexpected death of him; the “I knew it was coming” death for her. Timing and expectations vary, but no one escapes.
However...

On our original birth day, we begin life fresh. No memory. No past.
New beginnings. We go forward.
If we answer the bidding of a higher Voice, we reach a second birth day. On that day, we hand over all the days we’ve already completed, and He washes them clean for us.
It’s a second new beginning. We celebrate. We go forward. With intentional purpose.
But two-year-olds are temporary. The third birth day inevitably comes. Always. The bridge between two and three may be as long as 80 years, or as short as a day.
As two ends and three begins, we disconnect from physicality. We go forward as the most complete version of who we are. Now our very best. In His fullest Presence.
Two-year-olds don’t dread turning three.
Neither should we.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21
From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him.
Isaiah 64:4
Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
1 John 3:2

Such a great way of looking at death and what awaits us in Heaven.
