It’s okay to cry, Christian

kali-photo-albumIt's okay to cry.
  • It doesn't mean you're a weakling.
  • It doesn't mean you're faithless.
  • It doesn't mean you're not resting on the Rock.

It just means you're sad.

It's also okay to question.
It doesn't mean you're an atheist.
It just means you're wondering.

And it’s okay to smile.
     It doesn’t mean you’ve forgotten.
It just means you’re happy.

Today on Kali’s birthday, I wear many emotions. I miss the daughter I couldn’t raise. I still don’t understand it all. But I’d do it all again just to have had her for an hour.

To love her for a lifetime and beyond.

So cry when you’re sad.
Question when you wonder.
Smile when you’re happy.

And love in it all.

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three;
but the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

This is all so true and you phrase it so beautifully. Love you bunches and praying for you and Jeff today. <3
Thanks for this. My mom was killed in a car accident several years ago this week... Sometimes I have to give myself permission to be sad...

Praying for you, too, this week. Anniversaries can be difficult. But I do appreciate how they can be healthy opportunities to let us reflect on our losses (and gains).

I'm sad for you today. A reminder that this is a fallen world and not our home. Your precious daughter is already home and waiting for her loved ones. There is no better place for her to be than in the hands of our Father, but that doesn't take away the reality of this life. May God lift you and Jeff up today.

The piece of your heart that is missing, Kali holds dear in hers...

It is definately ok to cry. Infact this morning I was in tears twice for 'specific' deeply intense reason.
Love you dearly and am feeling your pain with you today, ms. lisa. <3 You are -so- precious to the Lord.
Lisa, saying a prayer for you and family today. Must be comforting to think of your mom and dad with her today. And so much more Our Heavenly Father who loves her more.
Very definitely ok to do all of those things. I'm so thankful Scripture records David's laments and Jeremiah's struggles as well as the victories. Praying for you this day.

Lisa, you've been able to bring God glory through your loss. You've been blessed to comfort others who face a similar loss. You know what not to say and what words will soothe. May you experience Jesus' presence even more today in your sorrow, your smiles and your questions
-Kim
I'm a day late, but I'll still pray God's unfathomable comfort and nearness for you today. Just this morning, Psalm 147:3 was in my reading. God does heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds, even though the "better than new" heart healing is never complete in this life.

Isn't it strange that we want to do the very opposite of what God desires us to do in these very important areas you've pointed out, Lisa. I'm so glad you wrote this because I struggle with some of these and it's a good reminder to me and to us all. Thanks, my friend!

There are things on this earth which are worth crying over, and lament is a legitimate form of worship. It acknowledges both that things are broken and not as they should be, as well as the hope that God is at work making all things new.
i love you friend. and i'm praying. i love what nancy said about about lament being a form of worship. i totally agree.
Much love and prayer for you
