“Just as I Am”—it’s the only way you can come

One beauty of the Christian faith is you don’t have to clean yourself up to come. Actually, you CAN’T clean yourself up before you come.

Either you allow Christ to clean you up, or you stay messy.

Just as you are. That’s how you’re to come.

This hymn is old.
This chorus is new.
This message is timeless.

Just As I Am-Shaun Groves

Just as I Am
sung by Shaun Groves

Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that thou bidst me come to Thee
Oh Lamb of God I come I come

Just as I am though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt
Fightings and fears within without
O Lamb of God I come I come

CHORUS:
O I come to the Son
Who can heal with His wounds
O I come to the Thief
Who has robbed every tomb
O I come to the Victor
My Life and my Love
O Lamb of God I come

Just as I am poor wretched blind
Sight riches healing of the mind
Yea all I need in Thee to find
O Lamb of God I come I come

CHORUS

Just as I am Thou will receive
Will welcome pardon cleanse relieve
Because Thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God I come I come

CHORUS

Hallelujah! God is with us!

CHORUS

LOL - we must have linked up at exactly the same time!

I've never heard this arrangement with the new chorus. I enjoyed it..

I never cared much for this song because it was one we just sang on auto-pilot during the invitation so many times. It is truly a beautiful old hymn that has come to mean so much more to me in recent years..

I know exactly what you mean, Linda. I had to get over a hump with this song--I'd heard it used almost as emotional blackmail for so many years as our go-to invitation song. But when I heard this arrangement, I looked the song over again and enjoyed it. Then a friend at church brought another new version that I also really like. So I've developed a new appreciation for it.
Yes, I love this so much. One of those timeless songs that will penetrate the heart of anyone that hears it. Thank you for sharing this song tonight.

"One beauty of the Christian faith is you don’t have to clean yourself up to come. Actually, you CAN’T clean yourself up before you come. Either you allow Christ to clean you up, or you stay messy." Amen. One of the most blessed truths of all.

That song reminds me of my childhood and Billy Graham. A song of surrender. The perfect place to be. I especially like the last four words. "I come, I come"...

Absolutely one of my favorites of all time!!! and yes who doesn't think of Billy Graham crusades every time it plays??? Along with Amazing Grace and It Is Well with my Soul and Be thou my Vision...When I survey the wondrous cross...oh my...this is getting off subject, but just reading your post on that hymn and agreeing with it, I was just reminded of these others that I love SOOO much... Hugs to you Lisa. Have a fantastic weekend!

Yes, and I have to come to him just as I am daily! The closer I get to him, the more "messy" I realize I am. Quite wretched really. The closer I get to his pure, holy, white, light being, the more visible my filthy rag righteousness becomes. Daily, I come to him. Soooo thankful for grace!
This is a hymn of my youth. I love the new chorus. " O Lamb of God, I come. I come..."
Yes, the message is timeless! Only Christ can clean us up and transform us.

Have a blessed year in the Lord, Lisa!
Very nice, thank you. Blessings ~
