I've never heard this arrangement with the new chorus. I enjoyed it..

I never cared much for this song because it was one we just sang on auto-pilot during the invitation so many times. It is truly a beautiful old hymn that has come to mean so much more to me in recent years..

I know exactly what you mean, Linda. I had to get over a hump with this song--I'd heard it used almost as emotional blackmail for so many years as our go-to invitation song. But when I heard this arrangement, I looked the song over again and enjoyed it. Then a friend at church brought another new version that I also really like. So I've developed a new appreciation for it.

Absolutely one of my favorites of all time!!! and yes who doesn't think of Billy Graham crusades every time it plays??? Along with Amazing Grace and It Is Well with my Soul and Be thou my Vision...When I survey the wondrous cross...oh my...this is getting off subject, but just reading your post on that hymn and agreeing with it, I was just reminded of these others that I love SOOO much... Yes, and I have to come to him just as I am daily! The closer I get to him, the more "messy" I realize I am. Quite wretched really. The closer I get to his pure, holy, white, light being, the more visible my filthy rag righteousness becomes. Daily, I come to him. Soooo thankful for grace!
