in every season—enough

in fall the chill bears down
as i summon hard things
low things
in outstretched nights and diminished days

so You sit awhile
with me
deliberate exchanges
in syllables of echoes

until i witness again
i lean on Your strong
expand to glare
at Your show-off colors

in every season
You are enough
even
when i forget

in winter You warm me inside out
in spring You shovel my hands to growth
in summer You shine aglow on skin
and in fall

and in fall
You fill me full
to worship You as
enough

in every season

One year FULL in heaven and so happy that she is full of life and happy now. Just a small amount of time for her in glory and surrounded with God's love. I will miss her daily. She was a wonderful example of a Christian wife and mother! She taught me lots of virtues. I had the best Mother in Law ever! I am sure you had a wonderful family life growing up with such loving parents. Thinking of you today.

Bonnie,
You were a 4th daughter to her, not just a d-i-l. And are a sister to us, not just a s-i-l. Thank you for the ways you love our family.

Yes, it’s just been a small amount of time for her surrounded with God’s love. It’s hard to even imagine that total immersion, huh? Thinking of you and Lane today too.
Love you!
Lisa

Praying a bit extra for you today, Friend.

And, yes, He is enough regardless of the season.

Wow, Lisa. Thanks for posting that photo.

The part about summoning the hard things was...well, hard for me! But when I can be confident that God is in me and with me...

Lisa, It's been a while since I've visited over here. We just passed my mom's year anniversary of going home, too. Praying for you as you grieve...and thank God.

Adoption Mama,
Good to hear from you; you know how this feels.

Thanks for your prayers… I am praying for your family too. I haven’t walked in your shoes for that piece of journey you are on; may the Lord bless you with courage and wisdom to endure with faithfulness.

These anniversaries are hard, especially the first one. I'm thankful He is sufficient for us is all seasons, as your lovely poem attests.

Des Jesus care when I've said good-bye
To the dearest on earth to me?
Does His sad heart ache til it nearly breaks?
Is is aught to Him? Does He see?
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares.
His heart is touched with my grief.
Though the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Praying for you today, Lisa.

What was your mama's favorite thing to do (other than love on y'all!)?

Imagine that is what she is doing now - with Jesus.

May He bless you and your sisters today.

a beautiful poem Lisa... and such a touching way to acknowledge her one year full in heaven! I also know this journey you are on... blessings, strength and perserverance to you...
as you "lean on His strong."

Barbara,
I can hear the song now in my head. "I know my Savior cares." So glad it's true.

Rie,
I love this suggestion. My mom loved to cook big meals and feed lots of people, so I can imagine her behind a big stove in the Master Chef’s kitchen. Ha. Feeding the angels their first taste of fried okra and homemade dill pickles and chess pie. :-)

Thanks, all, for leaving such sweet comments. Sometimes my husband kids me about having A friends and B friends (A for actual and B for blogging), but I tell him that my B friends are straight A's to me too. :-)
