But even better, to have a faith like this!
My good friend Mark Dever once reminded me that sleep is a picture and a parable of what it means to be a Christian.
Your sleep tonight will be a small but real act of faith.
You’ll lay your full weight on a bed, trusting this structure to support you. You can fully relax, because no effort at supporting yourself is required; something else is holding you up.
And in the same way, throughout the night as you sleep,
Someone else is sustaining you. This is a picture of what it’s like to belong to Christ.

What are you doing lately that is a real act of faith?
Are you aware of what/Who is really sustaining you?

Awesome. I love the verse in the Psalms that says, "I will lay me down in peace and sleep." I love thinking that it is a portrait of belonging to Christ.

At first I thought the act of faith involved in sleeping was that nothing bad would happen while we were asleep. :-) That's something I had to wrestle with when my husband was traveling a great deal.
Loved your link on your sidebar about being an introvert -- described me perfectly.
Lisa...what a great analogy....I really like this image...laying your full weight.....hope your weekend is going great.

Interesting comparison. Sleep is such a wonderful restorative event. I'm thankful for sleep and thankful most nights I sleep really well.
Blessings,
Charlotte
