Do you ever sing a song that you’ve sung your whole life, but it seems like the words are brand new?
That’s how I felt when I sang this song in the car Saturday night with three other friends.
We didn’t linger on it, or even sing all the verses, but it had a moment with me. I’m worshiping the King! Gratefully singing of his wonderful love.
O worship the King, all glorious above,
And gratefully sing His wonderful love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.
Praying you have a blessed Sunday worshiping the King...

Yes...I LOVE the older hymns. I do love the new praise songs, but the older songs just feel so grounded in words and the awesomeness of God. They are truly praise about the holiness of God. And most of those hymns have the most amazing stories behind why and when the person penned them. I am always moved just in the most recent years when I sing Our shield and defender...because of my first born son entering the Marine Corps. I love to envision Christ as His shield and defender wherever his boots are walking ...especially when he was deployed. what an anchor to hold on to for mama. Thanks Lisa. Great hymn...an oldie and most certainly a GOODIE! Hugs.
Hi Lisa...I don't know the song...never heard it but I do know that feeling of a known song feeling new and sparking life all over again. Have a great Sonday
Lisa, that is such a wonderful song of praise. I have had such an experience as you had when I sing a song for the nth time. It's like a light comes on and I see the holiness of the words I sing. The awesomeness of God suddenly becomes unspeakably real. You had a God moment! That's a gift to let you know He sees you, He loves you, and He honors your praise to Him. God bless you always, Dr. Bobbi
Yes -- so wonderful when that happens. Love that one.
That is a beautiful song. I have sung it probably hundreds of times through the years though not lately. Thank you for sharing this.
Blessings,
Charlotte
