Matthew 25:40
My mom must surely be in her last 24 hours. I didn’t know her body knew how to survive this strong.
But on she goes, even though she’s now one of the helpless, one of the “least of these.” Unable to do for herself. Unable to do for others.
I’m sitting here watching my brother. He is brushing our mom’s hair. He is putting lotion on her skin. He is putting a wet washcloth on her forehead.
He is continuing to love her.
Because she first loved him.
Because He first loved her.
God started it all, caring for the “least of these.” We are all a “least of these.” And because we’ve been loved by Him, we love Him. And because we love Him, we love other “least of these.” Others just like us. Just like my mom.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 4:11

How can you keep His love going today?

Even though it is so difficult to watch, I'm so glad that you and your brother are there for your mom in her final hours. Praying that God comforts you and your family during this time.
Lisa, as a former hospice nurse, I hear the tender place in which you and your family are journeying. May the Lord comfort and abide with you.
