These two are the last new ones for me from A Severe Mercy.
1. dipsomania
(n) [dip-suh-MEY-nee-uh]
Definition—an irresistible, typically periodic craving for alcoholic drink
Use—“I am in great trouble about my dear brother’s dipsomania: pray for him and me.”
2. sword of Damocles
(n) [DAM-uh-kleez]
Definition—constant threat; imminent peril
Use—“Of course the sword of Damocles hangs over us.”

I've heard both of those words before but I would not have been able to tell you what they mean. I guess my retention is not all that good.
Are you kidding? I thought "dipsomania" might mean something about the future. Can't believe the meaning. Love the word. Thanks for stopping by my place.
