Here are three new words I’ve stumbled across this week.
Join Kathy and friends to see more.
1. eisegetic
(n) [ahy-si-JET-ik]
Definition—an interpretation, esp. of Scripture, that expresses the interpreter's own ideas, bias, or the like, rather than the meaning of the text
Use—“Absolutely brilliant man, amazing preacher, but sometimes a bit too eisegetical for me.”
~found it reading blog comments on Challies.com
2. theodicy
(n) [thee-OD-uh-see]
Definition—a vindication of God's goodness and justice in the face of the existence of evil
Use—“I could dig up my theodicy notes from seminary and give some ideas.”
~found it while reading Plan B
3. hydrologic
(adj) [hahy-druh-LOJ-ik]
Definition—the science dealing with the properties, distribution, and effects of water on the Earth's surface, in the soil and underlying rocks, and in the atmosphere
Use—“Local Weather Alert: Hydrologic Statement [State Warning]”
~found it when looking up my weather forecast on Weather.com

Interesting words, those!

I didn't know any of them, but I guessed that the 3rd one had something to do with water! What great words! Thanks for participating!
I like that you found words from lots of sources this week. They are everywhere - aren't they.
These are some great words this week. Hydrologic is a good one to know with all the rain that is coming!
I knew eisegetic, but only because I've just been reading Francis Chan's Forgotten God--in which Chan discusses the difference between eisegesis and exegesis.
