My Spring ‘10 Reading List

bookflowersWhat book do you want to finish this spring?

Twice a year Katrina challenges. Start something new on your list, or finish something you’ve started, or check out what others are reading.

Whatever your goal, it’s easier when you commit with others.

So link your reading goal at Katrina’s blog. Or leave a comment below telling us what books(s) you want to read in the next 3 months.

On June 21, return to tell us how it went.
Spring 2010 booksI’ve created a mix of 11 books for my spring challenge.

  • 3 already begun
  • 2 waiting on the shelf
  • 2 library books
  • 2 on my new Kindle (yes, I’m lovin’ it!)
  • 1 borrowed
  • 1 ??? surprise! This covers the book (at least 1) that always sneaks in, refusing to wait its turn.

I am seeing Guernsey on a lot of lists so far. I have read it and I loved it. I am listening to the audio version right now and it is good too. Happy first day of Spring! :)

Great list, Lisa. I have Counterfeit Gods on my shelf, but haven't read it yet...though it looks very good. And I loved the Guernsey book -- charming and sweet.

Thanks for being part of SRT '10!

Good list! I have a Larry Crabb book on my shelf I might add to my list...Soul Talk. Is the Ben Franklin book on your Kindle? I noticed it's a free selection. (I just downloaded Kindle for Mac yesterday to take advantage of some other free books being offered right now.)

I've heard so many good things about Guernsey--my expectations continue to grow.

Karen, yes, Ben Franklin was a freebie on my Kindle. I've always wanted to read it anyway, so why not free? :-)

I loved the Guernsey book. It was my favorite book last year.

I read the Guernsey book this winter. I really enjoyed it! I forgot to add the books I have on my Kindle for PC! Still dreaming of a mobile Kindle. :-)

I forgot to add my Kindle for PC books! Still dreaming of a mobile Kindle. I will go check out that Ben Franklin book.

I like how you grouped your books into the different categories. Really lets you see what you've got. I missed an autobiography this time around. Oh well. Guernsey was one I really enjoyed.

Lisa - you are such an avid reader as I'd love to be yet I do have some goals within my range of "doable" ( hopefully).

Gurnsey was an audio book some months ago and I loved it - really delightful as an audio as one got all those delightful characters in sound. It was reminiscent of "84 Charing Cross Road". I think you will love the delight of it.

I have Larry Crabb's book which I loved getting as excerpts for Lenten devotions and HAD to have the book. It is so huge that it may be an ongoing devotional type one for me.

I am also excited to have Sue Monk Kidd's new book which she co-authored with her daughter, Ann Kidd Taylor titled, "Traveling with Pomegranates".

It is fun to read through your listings and all these comments!

Lynn,
Aren't audio books wonderful? I was hooked when I listened years ago to "The Wind in the Willows." It was also how I got through "A Tale of Two Cities"...the accents were fabulous.

I'm receiving the Larry Crabb devo's too--they are good. After I finish the book, I think I'll try to go back through it slower as I read through each corresponding Bible book.

I'm using one of your recommendations from last year for my Lent reading this year--"Reliving the Passion." What a great little book! Thanks.

Let me know if you like S.M.K's new book. Such an interesting title. I still haven't read Leigh McLeroy's new book either--I always think of these two authors together.

Great list. I have a few e-books on my list as well. Yes, isn't amazing how surprises crop up during the challenge. All those goods books everyone else is reading. My wishlist overfloweth. Happy reading!

Wow! What challenging books! I really like your spiritual selection. The men at my church are going through Counterfeit Gods right now and they all seem to love it.

Good luck!

I read S.M. Kidd's book cowritten with her daughter Anne, "Traveling with Pomagranates." Interesting. It caused me to want to read Sue's "The Dance of the Dissident Daughter" which I wouldn't reccomend unless you are well grounded in your faith. It takes you on quite a journey of the pagan feminine goddess.
