And in those days people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.
Revelation 9:6
For years, Mammaw would tell us, “This will probably be my last Christmas.” Or, “I won’t make it through another winter.” She was always certain that death was just around the corner.
But that 97th year was a cruel one. In that one, she really wanted to die. She would be disappointed each morning that she awoke, still here, when she wanted to wake up in heaven.
When she finally passed away, six years ago, we were all relieved for her.
Now I hear death longings from another woman I love. Ever since my father left in February, his soul mate has wanted to follow him. She says she prays every night that God will let her go be with Keith.
If you’re reading along, please send up a prayer today for my sweet mother.
…that a longing to die will eventually turn to a joy in life again.
…that strange new things will become familiarly comfortable.
…that being surrounded by family and friends will bring her satisfaction.
…that somehow, deep in her heart, she can celebrate the victory through her Lord Jesus Christ.
55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57

So honored to pray for your Mom and your family as you walk this road.
And we are honored that you do. Thank you, Denise. You are so precious. Praying for your Irish walk, too...
Things change so rapidly sometime that it is so hard to comprehend them and find a new normal. But God was and is and is to come!! He is all powerful and he holds it all in HIS hands!!!
praying right now for your mama...and for you.
Praying in Alabama for you both...
Oh Lisa my heart goes out to you, your mom and everyone else in your circle. It will be 2 yrs in Sept that my dad passed away of Alzheimer and my mom has been struggling emotionally. In some ways I feel I lost not only my dad, but my mom too. Sending not only prayers, but cyber hugs for you. xo
Thanks, all, for your prayers. They really do make a difference. Even though I still feel so sad over the events of the day, I also feel a sense of peace and purpose. I know that is from the Father answering the prayers of his children.
Joyce,
I relate so much to your feelings of losing both parents even though one is still here. I often feel that way. Taking your cyber hug and sending one back.
Lisa,
Please know that I am praying for your Mom as well as you. I am praying that God will give your Mom contentment and peace in being right where God intends for her to be at this time.
Love,
Dorothy
praying for you and your mother! what a struggle.
Dorothy,
I love that thought and will share that with my mom when I see her this morning.
