It is called CHRISTmas for a reason.
How do you keep Christ in Christmas?
How do you stay amazed at a story you’ve heard hundreds of times?
You have to fight for it.
The skirmish is never clean-cut. Pure. Like you wish.
It’s messy.
Because it’s a battle.
You have to fight your way through the secular to see the sacred,
in the same war where you wrestle
to keep merriment in your marriage,
to keep patience in your parenting,
to keep joy in your job.
Victory is secured through “God-with-us.”
It’s Advent amongst Algebra.
It’s Peace amidst parties.
It’s shepherds beside snowmen.
It’s a baby born in a barn.
It’s messy.
To keep Christ in Christmas, be diligent.
You have Help, distinguishing the uncommon among the common.
Anything is possible.
Christ in flesh.
Christ in us.
Christ in Christmas.
Come. Arrive.
Here, now, is the place, the time, to worship.

Beautiful! I was thinking the same thing...it's work to keep Jesus the One Thing (Ps 27) in daily life, and unfortunately it can be even harder at Christmas!
So touching! I am sharing this with my sisters and really taking it to heart- beautiful thoughts. Thanks

You are spot-on -- it is a challenge, it is hard work...I feel guilty even saying that out loud, but it is. Thank you for writing about it so honestly and beautifully.
Awesome! and just beautiful. I paused at patience in parenting. God knows I need that. I'm sharing this to my friends. Thank you very much!
Beautiful!! You can find Him, the question is "are you looking?" Thank you so much for sharing with such honesty! Angie in GA
