“Heaven Is the Face” – Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

Then Sings My Soul SaturdayI had another song picked out for today, but once I visited Amy’s site and heard this one, I knew it was meant to be my song for this week, too. (Thanks, Amy.)

Heaven is the Face
LYRICS

Heaven is the face of a little girl
With dark brown eyes
That disappear when she smiles.
Heaven is the place
Where she calls my name
Says, “Daddy please come play with me for awhile.”

CHORUS
God, I know, it’s all of this and so much more,
But God, You know, that this is what I’m aching for.
God, you know, I just can’t see beyond the door.
So right now...

Heaven is the sound of her breathing deep,
Lying on my chest, falling fast asleep while I sing.
And Heaven is the weight of her in my arms,
Being there to keep her safe from harm while she dreams

And God, I know, it’s all of this and so much more,
But God, You know, that this is what I’m longing for
God, you know, I just can’t see beyond the door.

BRIDGE
But in my mind’s eye I can see a place
Where Your glory fills every empty space.
All the cancer is gone,
Every mouth is fed,
And there’s no one left in the orphans’ bed.
Every lonely heart finds their one true love,
And there’s no more goodbye,
And no more not enough,
And there’s no more enemy (no more).

Heaven is a sweet, maple syrup kiss
And a thousand other little things I miss with her gone.
Heaven is the place where she takes my hand
And leads me to You,
And we both run into Your arms.

Oh God, I know, it’s so much more than I can dream.
It’s far beyond anything I can conceive.
So God, You know, I’m trusting You until I see
Heaven in the face of my little girl,
Heaven in the face of my little girl.

The first time I heard this song and actually understood the lyrics, I was so glad I wasn't in the car driving, because I was literally blinded with tears. The way SCC has used his pain to reach others amazes me.

Great song... thanks for bringing it to mind today.

Lisa, this is such a touching song especially in light of the tragedy that touched the Chapman family. It's amazing how Steven has been able to write songs to touch others who may also have gone through the death of a child. I long for heaven but I know I still believe the Lord has plans for me here.

Love you,
Debbie

Sweet blessings Lisa...I pray that this song brings you the Comforter and His Comfort as you reflect on Kali's sweet sixteen...that's a long time to miss someone but your little angel and that precious plate added with this song of SCC, "Heaven is the face..." certainly sums up the LOVE, His love for you, His love for Kali, His love for your other daughters & husband...YES,
so MUCH MORE...but if SCC can do this, write this, sing this, feel this and bless others SO
can you, will you and do you!!! I pray this ministers to your heart and your spirit this day! He's got her in His all encompassing arms!

"...Oh God, I know, it’s so much more than I can dream.
It’s far beyond anything I can conceive.
So God, You know, I’m trusting You until I see
Heaven in the face of my little girl,..."

I pray that God graces your face with His precious loving whisper of love & her angel kisses...as He holds you, holds her and holds your heart. Sweet sixteen! Precious words...precious tears...let Him turn your sorrow into dancing, healing & more love (like you share with the little ones at church)! May He bind up any brokenness left in your heart & give you the oil of gladness, a crown of beauty and a garment of praise!

Love & big hug,
Peggy

I am so glad to hear this song again...I have played it several times...it moves my heart to tears. We have a wonderful Comforter that knows our pain...there is much of it in this world. To know that we have glorious eternal life with our God and Savior is the only peace I can find on earth today.

I just glanced at the above comment...I don't know what has happened, perhaps the loss of a child...I'm so very sorry. I can only agree with Peggy's words...may He bind up any brokenness left in your heart and give you the oil of gladness, a crown of beauty and a garment of praise.

God bless you!
Mary
