Little treats – Friday’s Fave Five

I learned long ago that I’m easily pleased with little treats along the way.

God doesn’t specialize only in big blessings; he’s also King of the small ones.

Here are some small things that count as big things to me.

1.  Google Reading instead of Google Scanning 
Occasionally I slow down long enough to actually READ what’s in my Google Reader instead of quickly scanning/deleting.

It’s a guilty pleasure that I rarely allow myself, but I did it a time or two this week and it was a pleasure.

2. Look, Ma! No connection!
My old laptop would be pooped after 20 minutes with no electricity. On Tuesday I sat in the car for over an hour while Jenna was in a meeting, and the battery on my new laptop never even breathed hard. I was delighted.

3. A 3rd cookie
Chocolate chip cookies are never better than when they’re hot out of the oven.

I usually limit myself to two, but a third one doesn’t hurt every now and again, and it sure tastes yummy.

4. One-on-one lunch 
I’m incredibly blessed to live close to my family, including my nine nieces and nephews. So when we get together, it’s usually in bunches.

Until last week. One of my nieces met me for lunch, just me and her, to catch up before she moves to New York for a film internship. It made me feel very special. I’ll miss  her.

5. Learning shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts are fabulous, once I learn them. I’ve decided this week to add another layer to the ones I use faithfully. My wrist will thank me later for a few less moves to the mouse. 

Investing a little time now to learn something new for later will pay off big in the long run.
