Sometimes you just see it.
Today, I see it. I’ve been thinking and praying about what aspects of God and discipleship I need to concentrate on in ’09. I’ve been looking for recurring themes in scriptures I’m reading, in people I’m hearing, in events that are happening. I’ve been watching for things that trip me up, to discern where I need more growth; and for what projects come easily and with delight, to discover strengths to work with. God speaks in many ways, and I want to be found listening.
And seeing. Which is now my confirmed “Aha!” Sight...Vision...Light.
It’s been sneaking up on me for several months. And I’ve dabbled in such scriptures before—there are so many—but I anticipate a sustained awareness and conscious gathering of the Word on seeing and light will be an illuminating study.
I pray that others will share their finds with me (as they already have, often unbeknownst to them) and together we can behold an even brighter and truer vision of the Lord.
It should be quite, well, enlightening.

My very first thought when I read this (and you know I am cynical) was... I sure hope this doesn't mean Lisa is going to go blind in 2009 and God is preparing her. Lovely thought, huh? BUT... then something good came from my cynicism... I think I have stumbled onto a great motto for you for the upcoming year.... and here it is... (drumroll....).... "No longer blind in two-thousand nine".
I'm good, aren't I???
Um, you're "good"? Will you settle for "witty" instead? :-) I'll keep your motto in mind...
For future reference: (1) Of all my senses, sight would be the last I'd want to lose (and yes, I have thought about it). And (2) I hope I'm not blind already. ;-)
Okay, no one is good except God. Still, I'm not sure I like the way you said that. Ha. And I didn't mean to imply you are blind. How about "Sight is mine in 2009" or "A little less blind in 2009". (We're all blind to a degree or another when it comes to God's magnificence).
And I am with you- eyesight is good. I'll keep mine if at all possible.
And I didn't mean to imply that you are not good at all. :-) I'm happier with your new choices of mottoes.
Here are two verses I've been contemplating over for a few weeks:
"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!"
Matthew 6:22-3
It sounds so ominous! Though my physical vision is worsening, I want my spiritual vision to be getting "healthier". (I like the use of healthy in that verse. KJV used "single"--that's good, too.)
