For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16
Have you messed up today?
If you’re breathing, you have. I know—because I have, too.
But the good news is that there is still good news.
The gospel doesn’t become null once we cross the line from dead to alive. It’s still good news that God continues to rescue us, every day, from our messes, from our sin.
Tullian Tchividjian says it well in Jesus + Nothing = Everything:
Once God rescues sinners, his plan isn’t to steer them beyond the gospel but to move them more deeply into it.
That’s because the gospel isn’t the first step in a stairway of truths but more like the hub in a wheel of truth.
After all, the only antidote to sin is the gospel—always has been, always will be.

I had to preach the gospel to myself this morning on my way to teach Sunday School (late, thanks to thinking that I could rely on my cell phone to change its own time--the cell phone did as it ought, but I wasn't looking at the cell phone when I determined that I still had plenty of time to sleep and shut off my alarm.)
Thank God that grace isn't just for salvation and mercy extends to late Sunday School teachers too. As I reminded myself (while working to extend grace to the slow drivers in front of me), Jesus died for even this.

And for women who ran out of time to feed the dog before they left for church. Or left dirty dishes in the sink. Grace extends deep and wide.
I rarely set the alarm on my cell phone because I always wake up on my own, but not today. I not only set the alarm but also woke up to it so loud that I vowed never to do it again. ha. May we all get up easier tomorrow morning.

What a wonderful post and the analogy is super! What a blessing to know that He never changes but He is continually working on us to change us into His image. Thanks for your visit and your nice comment. Have a lovely day.
Blessings,
Sandi
