“Look Like a Fool”

For the preaching of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18 (MKJV)

The cross doesn’t make sense unless you’re at the foot of it.

Not only do you meet Jesus there, but you meet other worshipers, too. On Thursday I wrote about hearing voices there, and referenced this song.

Here it is in full:

Look-like-a-fool-Matt-Maher

Look Like a Fool
Matt Maher
LYRICS

All God’s creatures got a place in the choir
Some sing low and some sing higher
Some just sing out like a bird on a wire
Waiting to fly home

All God’s children are the apple of His eye
Even the ones we can’t stand sometimes
But we’re coming together just to go outside

And I need something to sing with this neighbor of mine

CHORUS:
That’s why grace is so amazing
That’s why love is so absurd
That’s why I sing for a God unchanging
That’s why I don’t care if I look like a fool

All God’s people got a reason to live
Joy for the hard days and true love to give
So we raise our hands and lay down sin
And remember the days our freedom began

CHORUS

Feeding the hungry
Clothing the naked
Giving the homeless a place to rest
Visiting the prisoner
Lifting up the lowly

By our fruits
May you shine on us
May you shine on us
Shine on us
Lord shine on us

CHORUS

Many of Matt Maher's have words that really hit home with me; sometimes a phrase here and there, sometimes a whole song.

Hope you have a nice weekend too.
Hello Lisa, from a fellow worshiper. What a great phrase there that you had. I like it.

I was especially touched by the below post about how you were blessed by different kids in your life. Tattoos, teens serving at Manna House, and a strong ballerina toe-d daughter... nice! Thank you for stopping by my site and for sharing yours with me. I hope to stop by again and again.

Jennifer,
Always nice to hear from fellow worshipers. Being part of a huge family is one of the blessings of Christianity. So glad God set that up for us!
'All God's children are the apple of His eye' I love that! And this is a new song to me which I like.

Hazel,
I love that line too. ALL of us are special to Him.

He’s the ultimate Parent. :-)
Love Matt Maher's music, and I have to sing along with this song every time. He is, and you are, right that it doesn't make sense to those who aren't yet standing at the foot of the cross.

I backtracked and got this older CD “Empty and Beautiful” (well, actually the download—that’s my preferred method of late) after listening to “Alive Again” so many times.

I think he has a newer one out that I don’t have: “Love in Between”. I guess that’s next…
Great song! First time I've heard it. Not only do I not care if I look like a fool, I find it impossible to not think of the ones who will not believe as the real fools.

The older I get, the more I get this. I was talking with my sister and s-i-l at breakfast this morning about this from a physical standpoint. We rarely care how we look when we go to the grocery store anymore. What difference does it make? If we know who we are and what we want, we *can* feel confident regardless. (Not that I always do, mind you…)
