The wind wakes me up. I flip on the TV. The sirens begin.
Tornado warning? Yes!
But not for me. Not this time.
The winds remain strong though. So strong they split the tree from its trunk. Into the neighbor’s swing set.
The tree goes down.
With the right wind, we all will. When it’s time.
In an excerpt from John Dunlop’s book Finishing Well to the Glory of God, he suggests four simple phrases to say frequently near the end of life.
1. I love you
2. Thank you
3. Forgive me
4. I forgive you
But why wait?
Don’t delay until your final big storm blows through before saying these words often.
Express them again and again in daily living—now is the time.

Have you spoken these words today?
If not, can you?

ahhh perfect reminders Lisa! Thanks for sharing!
A long time ago, I learned never to pass up an opportunity to tell someone you love them.
Great reminders.
Blessings,
Joan
A short but very powerful post!
God bless you.
So true!! Life is a precious gift and the beauty is in the journey. Everytime we give loving kindess and forgiveness, we give praise to God. Great post!

we say these often in our house...it makes life feel safe and easy. Your post is great as always Lisa....
Those words are spoken over and over around here, Lisa! Sweet reminder to speak them and to remember that not all families speak these words. We have to be so intentional...Hugs to you!
Great post! Those simple comments can mean so much to a person! Thanks for the reminder -
Have a blessed week!
AMEN! I read a magazine article when I was 20 that suggested saying "I love you" regularly - not something that was common in our family back then. I remember how it shocked different family members at the time, but years later, was blessed to see so many of us doing it.
And for that matter, how vital it is to use all four of these phrases often. What a blessing they are to others in our lives as well as to ourselves. Something I am blessed now to be sharing with my grandchildren as well.
Thank you for sharing them with us. :)
Beautiful reminder--thank you for consistently posting thought provoking and lovely bits of wisdom.
I've given you a blog award at bekahcubed. Don't feel obligated to "pick it up", but please do feel honored. I love reading your blog.
Lisa,
Great post….So true a perfect reminder.
Sweet Blessings,
Virginia
A good list and reminder for the week. The would would be a bit of heaven on earth if everyone practiced the list of 4. I want to do my part!
Perfect! Indeed, why wait till life's end to communicate these powerful words of love?
Blessings on your "Week in Words" Monday.
A good thought -- to make sure those things are said and those relationships are right before we go -- and every day since we're not sure when that last day will be.
I've not heard of that book -- looks like I need to check it out.
Amen sistah! No, the humility quotes on my blog were aimed at me...really!
This is a good reminder not to wait until it is too late.
Blessings,
Charlotte
