The 74th Iron Bowl just ended an hour ago. It’s a ferocious rivalry between the football teams of Auburn University and the University of Alabama, but a fun one.
If you live in the state of Alabama, you choose a team and hang on all season to hopefully gain year-long bragging rights from this game’s outcome.
Today’s game was a nail-biter from beginning to end, and even though Auburn lost in the end (21-26), it was still a great game. It’s a nice diversion to temporarily get excited over something not-so-important for awhile.
Both Auburn AND Alabama fans, though, can agree to pull for Auburn’s Zac Etheridge as he continues to recover from a debilitating injury in the game against Ole Miss on Halloween.
He’s now expected to make a full recovery. Despite the loss of this football season for him, he says he knows that things happen for a reason. And he knows that he’s blessed.
That’s a perspective everyone needs.
Regardless of the outcomes of games or seasons or any of life’s situations, if we keep believing that things happen for a reason and understand that we’re blessed, then we are.
God is faithful regardless of how our circumstances appear on any man-made scoreboard. Being on his side, we’ve already won. And I’m thankful.

I loved what you wrote here:
"Regardless of the outcomes of games or seasons or any of life’s situations, if we keep believing that things happen for a reason and understand that we’re blessed, then we are."
It's all a matter of perspective and looking to the One who can solve our problems. I need to listen and obey.
Blessings,
Debbie
Being the sports girl that I am, I loved this! :) I always love for my sports minded son to hear that kind of thing also.
God is in charge, we may not like how things are done, but they are for His greater purposes! Thanks for that reminder this morning!
