July 4th for the Burgess side of the family and there is no telling who will show up. Christmas for the Coates side. All Coates siblings and sometimes boy/girl friends. (That you'll never see again)

Not big into the "voices", but find hard to spend so much time at work and then think about allocating time for God. Prefer to think that God is in all that I do not matter what it is. Make sense?

Christmas Eve is when we pull out all stops, bringing more than what we signed up for, usually Mexican, at my parent’s house. Who comes? All us kids and our kids and their potential mates, and my aunt and uncle.

With’s Jeff’s family, probably Thanksgiving. Way too much food, but all yummy. It’s the entire family and kids and future mates. Used to also be all 4 of his precious grandparents, but they’ve all moved on now to the same address. His Mississippi aunt/uncle used to come, but bad health usually keeps them in Mississippi now.

(Just read Jeff’s answers—okay, July 4 DOES top Thanksgiving with the Burgess side. I should have thought of that! :-))

I usually know it’s God's voice if it’s consistent with other things I already know about him from the Bible, i.e. I’m not going to suddenly “hear” from him to do something that I know is wrong. I’d know that is NOT him.

I also know it’s him when the voice is consistent with wisdom I hear from mature Christians; I have a peace about it; I just KNOW it’s good and right. He also works a lot with me through repetition. (How many times do I keep hearing about the Sermon on the Mount lately? Everywhere I turn. And also the gospel of John. It’s everywhere; it’s everywhere. I take that as confirmation that he wants me to lean into it.)

10a. We used to have great gatherings but since my Mom died in 2001, the family dynamic has changed. The last two Christmases we have gathered at my niece's for that day. I'd say my friends are my family in the respect that they love getting together and including me!

10b. I've come to know that God's voice and directives come with peace. If the peace is not there, I wait until it is before "acting".
