Isaiah 48:18
Oh that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
I've been in a really good part of Isaiah lately. So many verses in so many chapters are gold nuggets. This is one, even though it's a sad one. It reveals the sorrow God feels for not getting to give us the blessings he wishes. His commands are for our good, and our obedience to them is the only way to have full peace.
Life would be so much easier for us if we'd just cooperate with Him, huh?
