Who do I favor?

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed...

Isaiah saw clearly that people become like the gods they worship; hence Israel is described as having eyes but not seeing, and having ears but not hearing—just like the idols they were attracted to and finally worshiped. Hence instead of being Yahweh’s people—a people who exemplified his character of justice and mercy, caring for the needy in the land, etc.—they were full of greed, capriciousness, and sexual immorality, like the Baals of the Canaanites.
~ HOW TO READ THE BIBLE FOR ALL ITS WORTH

That’s a scary thought.

If I became like the gods I worship, what would I look like? A stainless steel clock? A shapeless mass of cookie dough? A measureless shelf overflowing with books? No eyes. No ears. No life. The only God with life is Yahweh. Lord, continue to pull me towards worshiping only you. Let me reflect your image, and be conformed into your likeness.

2 Corinthians 3:18
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image...

Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
