Give 'em up

Wanting “my rights” has always tripped me up. God put within me a strong sense of justice, yet within his own system of justice, he frees me, unnaturally, because of the price that Jesus paid, voluntarily. So He still comes out just, and I come out clean.

It’s a phenomenal scheme of perfect justice. And a miracle.

Mack: “But didn’t Missy have a right to be protected?”

Sarayu: “No. A child is protected because she is loved, not because she has a right to be protected. ...As long as you think you have rights, you will surely get ticked off when someone cuts you off, even if it is God. …Jesus didn’t hold on to any rights; he willingly became a servant and lives out of his relationship to Papa. He gave up everything, so that by his dependent life he opened a door that would allow you to live free enough to give up your rights.”

The Shack

Freedom comes by NOT insisting on my rights, but giving them up. That’s how Jesus lived. And died. And lives forever. Me, too.

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God,
did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but made himself nothing...
he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and
bestowed on him the name that is above every name.

~ Philippians 2:5-9
