God's Got Game

18:38, 39 “Then the fire of the LORD
fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, ‘The LORD
[Yahweh], he is God [Elohim]; the LORD [Yahweh], he is God [Elohim].’”

This is one of my top 3 favorite stories in the whole Bible! Elijah was having a showdown with the false prophets, and God brought game. Those in the crowd first saw how limp their gods were, then our God laid it down. His fire licked it all up.

Nothing left to say, but “The Lord, he is God. The Lord, he is God.”

And we’re still saying it today... “The Lord, he is God. The Lord, he is God.” Amen.

This is so interesting. I just purchased a book today The Backward Life by Jarrod Jones and he mentioned this same story! He says, "Power will not come from within. Power comes from stepping into the presence of the one true God through prayer" Elijah expressed twice in his prayer that it would be known that the Lord is God. God was the hero that day, not Elijah" He continues to say, " Many years later God did more than stand up, he showed up, and he hung up, and he gave himself up ... on a cross. " Anyway - it truly is a book worth reading and I highly recommend it. :-)
