His grace IS sufficient

I never shed a tear before them during the hearings. But when the guard had returned me to my cell, and the sound of his footsteps had vanished—when I was certain that no one could hear me—I wept buckets of tears.

In desperation I poured out my heart to the Lord, “O Lord, I just can’t go through another one. I can’t, Lord, I just can’t. Please, no more, Lord.”

When there were no more tears to cry, I would hear Him whisper, “But my child, my grace is sufficient for thee. Not was nor shall be, but it is sufficient.”

Oh, the eternal, ever-present, undiminished supply of God’s glorious grace!

Evidence_Not_Seen_by_Darlene_Deibler_RoseDarlene Deibler Rose wrote these words about her imprisonment in a Japanese war camp during World War II in her book Evidence Not Seen.

Whatever it is that you are going through today, that you’ve begged him to change or that you think you can take no longer, remember that his grace is sufficient for you, too.

Now.

It’s not just a remembrance from the past or just a promise for the future.

You have it completely now.
In this very moment, it is sufficient.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you...”
2 Corinthians 12:9

Darlene’s words emboldened me when I read them.

I first heard of this book from Jodi. In a post about her heroes, she included this author Darlene Deibler Rose. After reading what she quoted, I knew I’d have to read the book. I was not disappointed, and can now personally recommend this book with the same enthusiasm as Jodi.

That is a wonderful book. And a wonderful truth that God's grace is sufficient for every moment in the moment.

Such an encouraging reminder, Lisa! His grace is sufficient! So glad you shared about this book. Can't wait to read it. Oh, why didn't I understand the treasure of biographies so many years ago? :)

Wonderful quote. How often do we say "I can't do it. I can't do it. I can't do it." and God responds, "You're right, you can't do it on your own--but by my grace, you CAN." I'm so thankful that God's grace is sufficient for all that stuff I can't do, I can't take, I can't handle.

I cannot even imagine what she went through! Sounds like a fabulous read! My current book is a Bible study by Linda Dillow, "Satisfy my thirsty soul." A must read.

Hi Lisa:

I read this book during a time of severe testing. It was a great encouragement to read of God's grace to endure suffering, not just grace to be released from it.
