Wear purple, September 21, for Alzheimer’s awareness

World-Alzheimer's-MonthSeptember is World Alzheimer’s Month.

Wednesday, September 21, is Go Purple day to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s Action Day. My mom died of Alzheimer’s on September 8, 2010.

From the Alzheimer’s Association webpage:

The End of Alzheimer's Has to Start Somewhere

Today, there are more than 35 million people living with dementia worldwide. And Alzheimer's disease is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America without a way to prevent, cure or even slow its progression. It's going to take all of us to end this disease, but together, we can move toward a world without Alzheimer's.

Thanks for the reminder, Lisa. I served as a volunteer with the Alz. Assoc. a couple of years ago. I walked and raised funds for a cause I am very passionate about. My dad battled this horrific disease since his mid 50's and went home to be with the Lord at 70 in 2004. It is alarming that it is being detected as early as 20's.

I will post this to my public fb page and twitter. Thank you.
