5 lessons from Daddy

A_Father's_LegacyIt’s Father’s Day #2 without my father here.

I continue to miss him.

But his lessons linger on.

My older sister bought this book for my dad 14 years ago. He typically didn’t like these type things, but thankfully he did fill out several pages.

Here are five life lessons from Daddy
that I don’t want to forget:

1. Face up
Seek to face directly anything that you don’t understand and seek an answer.

2. Carefully trust
Treat everyone as if they are honest but always protect yourself.

3. Expect storms
Be realistic in the events of life; not all will be pleasant.

4. Life is short
Life is but a vapor and sometimes ascends high into the sky but sometimes vanishes near the earth.

5. Seek light
Always look for the light at the end of the tunnel even if it is the end of life’s journey.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the earthly father you let me learn from and love.

Love these words of precious that you have them. my dad filled out a journal for my daughters to read was very touching. one of the main life lessons I learned from my dad was that the Bible IS the inspired true Word of God and to tithe. Always.....and to work as though unto the every thing. Ok, that's more than one...but it all relates! Have a joyful weekend!!

Wow! Lisa, your father was quite a philosopher. Very wise words he left, and they brought tears to my eyes. May you feel him near this weekend.

oh wow! I wish I had something like this. My dad died suddenly at 45 in 1980. This is terrific. Praying you get through Father's Day with joy.

What a blessing that he filled that much out! Lisa, I'm sorry for your loss and pray for God's comfort as you miss your daddy this weekend.

I don't remember any particular sayings of advice my dad shares frequently, but his life has taught me that time with family is a treasure, even if that time is just driving back and forth to piano lessons or sitting close watching sports, and that laughing together builds friendship.

Hello dear Lisa, I believe your very wise father left this behind as a legacy for his children. He gave out the love, even when he had departed for Glory.. You are very blessed to have that.
I didn't seen much of my father while growing up. I never heard him say "I love you." Yet I remember his acceptance and friendship with others..He was a kindly man who wasn't taken with speaking ill about others. He accepted the Lord into his heart only a short time before his death. The Lord kept him until that was done.. God is good.
Many blessings to you.

This is my 2nd without my dad as well. May 7th just over a year ago. My dad like yours taught me the basics of a principled life from a Biblical perspective. I've penned many posts about my dad since. While I mourn his absence, I cherish the life lessons from my dad. They were from watching him in actions, talk is indeed cheap unless it's backed up with actions.
May God continue to bless your life through what you learned from your earthly father. We are indeed blessed.

This is a keeper. I am saving these words so they can minister to me again like they did today. Thanks Lisa. Praying your family feels peace today and surrounds each other with love.

How incredibly precious to have something like that from your father to hold in your hands. Good lessons, too.

My father was a difficult man to get along with, and I have mixed emotions about him on Father's Day. He's been gone for several years now. Probably the biggest thing I learned from him was respect for authority. That has stood me in good stead all my life.

What a treasure to have those lessons in his handwriting. It sounds like you too were blessed with a wonderful wise Daddy. Thanks so much for your kind comment on my post today. Yes, treasure every day with your loved ones. We just never know what a day may bring do we?

This is such a precious gift your father left for you and your siblings. Wise words to live by.

I don't think we ever stop missing our fathers (or our mothers).

What a blessing this is for you to have, Lisa! Wow. Wise words indeed.

My dad died when I was 13. His presence in my life taught me what a loving earthly father should look like. His absence from my life has taught me that in my Heavenly Father "the fatherless find compassion" (Hosea 14:3).

Bless you today, Lisa.

Love the lessons your Dad taught you! They are full of wisdom and grace.

What life lesson did I learn from my Dad? That people lie and hurt those close to them.

What did I learn from my Heavenly Daddy? To forgive and let God forgive through me when I can't.

What a treasure to have these words in his own writing. You are a rich woman to have had a father who taught you these things. One day you will be with your earthly father and your Heavenly Father again.
