Is it enough to just know?

microwave at hotelBecause He knows me well.
That’s why he bought the $5 microwave.

Is knowing enough?

His hotel room had a refrigerator only. But for me to come stay for a week with him while he worked—with no transportation of my own during the day—I’d eat better there with a microwave.

So the day before my arrival, unbeknownst to me, he shopped at thrift stores until he found this perfect prize at this perfect price.

I know I’m loved.
I feel it in the pampering.
And I see it the gifts.

Isn’t that how God loves us?

He gives us knowledge of his love,
but he also allows us to feel it
and to see it.

It’s also how he wants us to love Him.
And love others.

Love is in more than just the knowing.

Know it.
Feel it.
Do it.

You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart and
with all your soul and
with all your mind.
This is the great and first commandment.
Matthew 22:37-38

How have you been shown love lately? How will you show love to someone today?

Good deal if it works.

Sounds awesome =) And I like the connection to how much God loves us enough to know our need to see His love in action.

I've been shown love through the random hugs my youngest brother gives me, friends who keep me company even though they are tired and could head home if they wanted to, and my mother visibly restraining herself from pinching my cheeks (lol). I hear love in my father's voice. I see love everywhere. God has allowed me to love and be loved...and I didn't realize just how much until now.

God bless you - hope you have a blessed week. May He show you His love in different ways this weekend!

Glad your mother restrains herself. Ha. You are blessed to see love in so many places – you must have very open spiritual eyes. I’ve found that the more I look for his love, the more I see it too. So I will be looking for his love in different ways this weekend! Thanks for sharing.

THAT is a perfect gift! Makes me smile.

The other day, my adult son passed by me as I sat reading at the kitchen table. He didn't say anything...just patted me on the top of my head. Sill, I know. But...it was perfect. Exactly what I needed.

Aw, that is a sweet gift, Deidra. It’s amazing how much those little things can mean to us. We moms know just how to interpret them. :-)

The microwave worked great, Cindy. Jeff actually hated having to leave it behind when we flew home. :-) Instead he unplugged it and put it on the hotel bed with a note to "Please take" so hopefully one of the housekeepers got to keep it or at least give it away to someone else.

The love was in the time he took to find the perfect gift :) Definitely!!!

That's funny..the microwave. I usually unplug our coffee pot and bring it with us because the hotel coffee thingy doesn't make enough and I'd stay there better if the coffee was good.

Great blog!

What a great illustration. You know this Bible verse has been stirring in my heart all month. Time to ponder it more. Thanks for the reminder.

What a very thoughtful gesture!

I've been invited to go on my husband's business trips a couple of times, but declined because I didn't want to be stuck in the hotel all day -- and I'm not one to go exploring on my own, plus the transportation would be a problem. But once our youngest is out of the nest...I may take him up on it.

How thoughtful! How much like God to provide the extra to make life better.

Well said. Know it. Feel it. Do it.

Confirming what the Lord has been saying to me lately - "don't just GO to church, BE the church"

That is SO great. All that premeditated thought and trouble he went through.

Once I felt very loved when my sister came home (I used to live with her) with a paperback copy of Crime and Punishment---because earlier I had mentioned casually that I wanted to read it but hadn't yet.

Absolutely perfect Lisa! Sweet and real and to the truest of points.

I always tell my hubby that 'it's the little things' that speak so deeply of love...and to think! to think! it's all here like Ann says 'count the ways He loves me...'

How thoughtful!

That's a sweet story, Lisa. Who would think that a $5 microwave could have so much meaning packed into it?

Hi Lisa, is your love language gifts too? :) .. ! You're a poet, too. Never cease to amaze me with your creative gifts.
