Run! It’s too risky not to.

      What I’m memorizing
The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10

Ready or not, here I come!

I remember playing hide and seek in my front yard as a kid. We had enough bushy bushes to hide behind without getting caught too quickly. hide and seek

But if I wanted to stay safe, I couldn’t stay put. I had to take a risk and do something. Run!

As an adult, sometimes I want to find a bushy bush and hide behind it so I won’t get caught. Avoid the confrontation. Stay out of trouble. Not feel the pain.

But if I want to be safe, I can’t stay put. I have to take a risk and do something. Run!

Where? To home base. It’s too risky not to.

Home base is no longer the red brick steps of my front porch. It’s bigger and more grandiose. It’s a strong tower. It’s the name of the LORD.

I play it safe and run to the tower by having that tough conversation with my husband.
It’s too risky to let wounds fester.

I play it safe and run to the tower by making a visit that’s bound to bring tears.
It’s too risky to avoid hard things.

I play it safe and run to the tower by asking my friend if something is wrong.
It’s too risky to live in misunderstanding.

Doing nothing when you’re supposed to do something is too risky.

Even if you get tagged by It sometimes. Troubles will track you down; Jesus said that would happen. But the victory has already been won (John 16:33).

It awaits you in the tower. Your safe place.

Have enough faith in the goodness of home base to leave your comfort zone. Do what he asks you to do so you can end up somewhere better. Submit. Obey. Believe.

For him, for the sake of his name.

Do something.
The name of the LORD is your safe place.
Run to the tower. It’s too risky not to. More Memory Monday

I love this statement you made: "Have enough faith in the goodness of home base to leave your comfort zone" God is our home base. Trust Him. Great post!
