“Rest in the Arms” – Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

Then Sings My Soul Saturday Aaron Shust released his new album Take Over last week, with many great songs. Rest in the Arms” touched me this week on many levels. (And as good as it is, it’s not even my favorite; my top faves are still playing pinball in my soul. More on them another day.) aaron shust_take over

One, before my husband went out of town on Sunday, we had a miscommunication and I didn’t get to send him off in the way I should have. We ironed things out via phone later. But I miss making up face-to-face.  It shaded my week a little gray.

Two, I was also discouraged on Sunday that the week ahead was so tightly packed. I tried putting it in the Lord’s hands, but, sadly, I wasn’t very confident that my stress level would go down.

But it did. This week went amazingly smooth, despite its noisy complications. I can baby-picture-rest-in-my-arms-childish-david-babyattribute it only to Jesus.

He knows how to give the rest we need, if we’ll only let him. Forgive me, Lord. I believe; help my unbelief! (Mark 9:24)

If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest.
Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest.
This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30 (Contemporary English Version)

Rest in the Arms
by Aaron Shust

LYRICS

When you’re broken when you’re weak
When you turn the other cheek
When you cannot speak of the bittersweet, the bittersweetness
When the floor gives out beneath
And everything that you believe
Cannot bring you peace
You’re broken inside, broken in pieces

Chorus:           You can rest in the arms of the One who holds you
Rest in the arms of the One who knows you
Rest in the arms of the One who won’t let go
You can rest in the arms of the One who holds you
Rest in the arms of the One who loves you
Rest in the arms of the One who won’t let go

When the water starts to rise
And you’ve lost the will to fight
When you’re losing light
Just close your eyes, close your eyes now
Have no fear
I’ll be here

Makes me think of the promise, "in quietness and rest is your strength." Can't remember the reference. What peace He grants when we rest secure in Him!

Isaiah 30:15
This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

Blessings Lisa...I'm sorry about the miscommunication & how packed your week was, but so glad that Jesus takes over & brought you REST & resolution...and even sent this CD release from Aaron Shust...let's allow Him to put those broken pieces together & find REST in His arms!
Thanks for your visit & scripture from Zephaniah! I'm so thankful that the LORD is here
