Proverbs 3 – Memory Monday

More Memory Monday It’s Memory Monday (see more verses at The Simple Wife). Which piece of God’s word did you hide in your heart last week?

Learned last week:
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
Proverbs 3:5-7 (ESV)

Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between:
What’s our own understanding, and what is God’s voice?
If we’ve trained ourselves to hear his voice, shouldn’t it morph into our own consciousness and become second nature to us, as if it’s our own?

Perhaps that’s why we’re being advised here: it’s easy to become overconfident in our own knowledge. To “acknowledge” comes from the Hebrew word “yada” meaning “to know.” When we keep seeking to know Jehovah, he straightens our course in life and keeps us from heading down our own paths of self-righteousness and pride.

The more we know him, the more we discover what wisdom is, and the more reverence we have for him. We’ll then be less likely to hear and heed the voice of the world calling to us. We can turn our back on evil and leave it undone. Evil will become the voice not heard, the road not taken.

Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for GOD's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.
Don't assume that you know it all. Run to GOD! Run from evil!

Proverbs 3:5-7 (The Message)

Will learn this week:
In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:2-3

I enjoy reading your comments about your verses. It is hard sometimes to know when it's our own understanding and when it's God's. I constantly strive to follow the Lord's leading in all things. Sometimes, it can be hard though.

Hope you have a great week!
Karen
