I am so behind the "times" in regards to these newer artists. I do have MW Smith's "A New Hallelujah" and like it and like him so much.

He gives many of the kids on American Idol spots on his tours. He has been in my area the past two Christmases bringing along Melinda Doolittle and this past year added on ????? yes, him. Not Chris Sleigh but another really good singer. If you ever have a chance to see a MW Smith Christmas concert...GO! Maybe you already have. I play his "It's a Wonderful Christmas" CD almost all year it has so many instrumental originals and it is so worshipful.

Best I check out some of these new ones...have heard Casting Crowns and like their sound.

Just chatting about tunes!

So I'll have to squeeze Michael W. into my Christmas schedule? ;-) I love him, too, and Melinda Doolittle is my ALL-TIME favorite American Idol contestant! So humble and authentic, and had the best voice.

I have "A New Hallelujah" also and am glad it won an award.

I've heard Casting Crowns Christmas CD is very good also. They're one of my favorite groups, not only because of their music, but because the kind of people they are. If you ever get an opportunity, go to one of their concerts. It's a wonderful worship experience, not just another concert.

Thanks for the input on Casting Crowns. I have been drawn to some of their songs I have heard and appreciate the lyrics. Hmmmm...feel an iTunes look and see coming on!

One can tell a lot when seeing a group in person or a solo artist. The times that mean the most to me are the ones where we, as a audience, are invited into the experience as a time of worship.

I had occasion some years back to see Twila Paris in concert two times and each time I felt I was eavesdropping on her private time with God even though we were all worshipping together.

Yes, music...can be so powerful!

So if you really start feeling adventurous, check out Group 1 Crew. :-) Their current hit is "Keys to the Kingdom."

One of my favorite lines from their music (can't remember which song) is this:

Lord, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I’m not scared cuz you’re holding my breath.

That imagery speaks to me.
