Out of the tombs…the only way to live

“We know that we have passed out of death into life...”
1 John 3:14a

pinwheel 1

the pinwheel turns furiously
then stops dead for the picture

did i interrupt a conversation?

pinwheel

the tombs appear empty
(rotting bones don’t count)

the spirit is what’s gone
missing

what are the signs of a resurrected life?
tombstone

rock of ages grave

are the signs of resurrection...

breath? ... movement? ... noise?
fullness

full of what?
of life

life is
more
than breath...more than movement...more than noise

a resurrected life is full of heart. of blood. of Him.
Jesus

but how? how?
lay low in the grave
wait on His breath to revive you
His word to call you up

you must die before you can resurrect

tomb and tree

He’ll quicken your pulse, arouse your spirit, enliven your soul
He’s been there; done that
He wants you to experience it too

why?
because He loves you
He wants you
to rejoice
in resurrection
to tell others how to resurrect

to live resurrected

He wants you to walk out of the tomb
into new life, real life, eternal life

life on tomb

enter the tomb
if it’s now or later
now is best
you won’t stay long

power awaits you in the resurrected life
the kingdom life
the now life

His fresh blood exchanged for your tired blood
His white robe exchanged for your filthy rags
His love-feast exchanged for your beggar meals

resurrection is
Full
More
Life

it’s okay to die
it’s the only way
to truly live!

resurrection life
“Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me
has eternal life.
He does not come into judgment,
but has passed from death to life.”
John 5:24

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness
and
transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”
Colossians 1:13

What signs of resurrection do you want to see in your life?

Gorgeous photos. Is it weird that I like cemetery photos? I think they're beautiful in their witness to resurrection hope. I drove by a similar monument of a woman clinging to the cross recently and made a mental note to go back and take a picture. "Wait on His breath to revive you..." Where else is life but with the breath of His Spirit?

I found the cemetery photos strangely compelling. Thanks for the deeper look into where we would be if we would not have had a savior. I love the resurrection and look forward to being resurrected. Because I BELIEVE.

to live this life full, we must die... and to die to self is so painful, but like birth, the pain is forgotten in the begetting... beautiful post, dear lisa. really made me long for more...

gentleness, joy and enduring hope. These are signs of new life I'd like to see in myself. BTW your pics were cool. They encouraged me to look again at some pics I have from the graveyard of the oldest church in Vermont. Robert Frost is buried there.

And the handcarved stone of Moses Ballard is so compelling.
