“I Need a Silent Night”—Then Sings My Soul Saturdays

Then Sings My Soul Saturday December has been such a whirlwind. So when I heard this song for the first time last night as we were driving home from another wonderful Christmas event, it struck a nerve.

I need a silent night now. I need to end this crazy month this way. With a silent night. A holy night.

So today is it. Going nowhere. Doing nothing. Just fearing not, listening to good news of a great joy. A Savior, my Savior, is here. Hallelujah!

May you have your silent night, too. Soon. Just when you need it. In just the way you need it. In the way that brings you closer to the Christ, the Prince of Peace.

I Need a Silent Night
Amy Grant

LYRICS
I've made the same mistake before
Too many malls, too many stores
December traffic, Christmas rush
It breaks me till I push and shove

Children are crying while mothers are trying
To photograph Santa and sleigh
The shopping and buying and standing forever in line
What can I say?

CHORUS
I need a silent night, a holy night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a silent night

December comes then disappears
Faster and faster every year
Did my own mother keep this pace
Or was the world a different place?

Where people stayed home wishing for snow
Watching three channels on their TV
Look at us now rushing around
Trying to buy Christmas peace

CHORUS

What was it like back there in Bethlehem
With peace on earth, good will toward men?

Every shepherd's out in the field
Keeping watch over their flock by night
And the glory of the Lord shone around them
And they were so afraid

And the angels said fear not for behold
I bring you good news of a great joy that shall be for all people
For unto you is born this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord
And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor Prince of Peace

CHORUS

Blessings and PEACE Lisa...May you find the silence you need! Inspirational words! Amy Grant was so popular and I love many of her songs, but don't hear many of her recent ones. She was my first concert!!! The way this started, I thought was far from "silent" and then the precious chorus. Certainly gives you the contrast! Perfect words to end the busyness of the season & reflect deeper in His ever so radiant glory!

More than the silence, I need the holiness! I need to feel His Presence and special touch.

The Mexicans celebrate all hours into the night, so it's far from silence here but in my home there is...than the silence is pierced by what sounds like gun blasts (another custom not favored by me) or fireworks (hopefully the later). But me & my 6 dogs, cuddle up and try to sleep. One of them really panics over the sound.

Sadly this Christmas, was not as JOYful as my spirit would have liked...uneventful but inner PEACE which is priceless to comfort & heal. Thanks for your caring words when you visited today. Really great choice to share! Thanks!

Amy has a beautiful voice. I don't shop. I would like to go to Little Rock and see the malls all decorated. Thank you for sharing. I hope you get some quiet time. Doylene

I enjoyed that, Lisa. Christmas has definitely become too commercialized. And yes, my mother kept the pace with 4 of us children to buy for, and cook for. Blessings, Cathy
