What is God singing? Part 2

[In response to Donna's comment “What have you heard God singing in the months since you posted your question?”on What is God singing?”]

I‘ve almost slept through the night until an unexpected thunderstorm wakes me up a little before 4 a.m. I had been dreaming of flipping a light switch, but no light coming on.

As the thunderstorm intensifies, so does my alertness, the lightning breaking through the fragile veneer between asleep and awake.

The TV scrolls...
“The National Weather Service is tracking a strong thunderstorm 10 miles south of Madison, moving NE at 45 mph. This thunderstorm could intensify quickly... be ready to act if a warning is issued.”

Donna’s question breaks through. What has God been singing to me lately? That he is so strong; wait on him, not me. That while I should still prepare for both the next thunderstorm or the next beautiful day, in the end, even my most thorough preparations aren’t enough to save the day.

Only in his hand rests deliverance. He wakes me up; he puts me to sleep. At the right time, every time.

Prepare anyway, but trust him through the preparations. Act anyway, but trust him in the actions. He will warn me as needed, turning on enough light for me to see what he’s revealing. Regardless of the weather, regardless of the time. Waiting on him is always right.

It’s now 5:02 a.m. I still hear distant rumblings to the north, but this storm has passed me by, moving on to awaken someone else from their sleep. Calm has returned here. As it always does, eventually.

Psalm 27:14
"Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!"

While I'm Waiting
John Waller

[Listen]

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait

You're posting a lot these days, it's hard to keep currant. ;-) I just read this tonight and had to laugh because I downloaded this song on Monday and have been listening to it over and over... it's really good. I was actually going to post a link to it on my blog, but now I'll look like I was copying you... oh well. You beat me to it. :-)
